Jamie Thomas King is an award-winning English-American actor whose work spans stage, film, and television, and whose personal journey has fueled global advocacy. Trained at the National Youth Theatre and on scholarship at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA), Jamie began his career on the stage, starring in the Royal National Theatre’s production of Sir Alan Bennett’s The History Boys, which toured the UK before transferring to the West End. He later returned to classical theatre with the Royal Shakespeare Company in John Ford’s Love’s Sacrifice.
On screen, Jamie has built an international career with memorable roles including Guy Mackendrick on the Emmy-winning series Mad Men (AMC) and Sir Thomas Wyatt on The Tudors (Showtime). He has appeared in BAFTA- and Oscar-recognized films such as Mike Leigh’s Mr. Turner and Tomas Alfredson’s Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, while guest-starring in popular network series including Private Practice, Elementary, Call the Midwife, and Murdoch Mysteries to name a few.
Following the tragic loss of his son Benjamin due to preventable medical error, Jamie took a hiatus from acting to advocate for patient safety and accountability, leading international workshops, delivering keynote addresses, and creating The Benjamin King Foundation in his son's memory. This deeply personal work informed his return to film, where he secured the rights to OBE recipient James Titcombe’s memoir Joshua’s Story: Uncovering the Morecambe Bay Maternity Scandal, adapting it into his first screenplay.
In 2023, Jamie co-founded Blackbird Productions with his wife Tamara Podemski, serving as executive producer, co-writer, and star of their debut project The Light Before the Sun, which premiered at the Hamilton Film Festival in 2024. Today, Jamie continues to demonstrate remarkable versatility—moving effortlessly between classical theatre, international screen projects, and socially impactful storytelling, bringing both depth and breadth to every role he undertakes.
